DEstination: Space

The “DEstination: Space” Exhibit presents Delaware’s connection with space exploration – focusing on Delaware’s contributions from early endeavors, to the Apollo space program, and onward to current aspirations to land on Mars.

We invite you to experience Delaware’s place in space as we also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 and the Moon Landing!

What Visitors Will Learn

The exhibit covers the contributions of Delaware companies and their
employees from ILC Dover, W.L. Gore & Associates, and DuPont –
and is supplemented with artifacts and resources from each host institution.

DEstination: Space
The “DEstination: Space” exhibit recounts the history of space exploration and Delaware’s past and current vital role in this endeavor.

The exhibit is a learning experience for all ages. Designed to be a connection among people, places, and ideas, it provides a friendly, community environment where scientific learning and history can be explored, and the future pondered.

DEstination: Space Timeline
The exhibit features a seven-foot tall timeline, visually depicting space exploration years from the first person in space in 1961 through the last of the Space Shuttle missions in 2011. Special focus is woven throughout to highlight important historical events as the space program evolved through these years.
